The Gateway Regional School District's 2018-2023 Strategic Plan aims to foster an inclusive learning community that prepares students for future college and career success. Key strategic pillars include maximizing college and career readiness, elevating teaching and learning standards, enriching student life, expanding co-curricular activities, increasing community service opportunities, and repurposing school facilities. The plan also emphasizes integrating career education and restructuring the school day to offer comprehensive learning experiences.

The meeting included recognition of students of the month for March. The board discussed anticipated litigation in an executive session. The Secretary's report included discussion of a security drill, mandatory board member training, school ethics/financial disclosure statements, recreation grant. The Superintendent's report included a Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) update, enrollment numbers, and administrator reports. The board approved outside use of facilities, transportation for school year 2024-2025 jointures/routes, payment of bills, capital reserve withdrawal, grant applications, staff leave of absence requests, staff hiring, staff resignations, activity/transportation, policy revisions, homebound instruction, homeless tuition, accelerated graduation request, learning disabled extended school year program, submission of the Statement of Assurance (SOA) and Voluntary Compliance Plan for the Civil Rights Methods of Administration (MOA) review, library book order, and out-of-district placements.

The meeting addressed various topics including security drills, budget approvals, and reports from administrators on school activities and programs. Approvals were given for the use of facilities by outside organizations, financial reports, budget transfers, and the acceptance of a Computer Science High School Courses Grant. The board also discussed personnel matters, student activities, fundraising, and policy revisions, including affirmations of harassment, intimidation, and bullying investigation decisions.

The meeting included a public budget hearing with a presentation of the 2025-2026 district budget, followed by community input and adoption of the budget. The budget includes allocations for the General Fund, Special Revenue, and Debt Service, with specific amounts for tax levies. The budget also covers travel expenditures, capital reserve accounts, and maintenance reserve accounts. Additionally, the board addressed annual reappointments, including the Board Secretary, School Business Administrator, and District Purchasing Agent. The board also discussed outside use of facilities, financial reports, budget appropriation transfers, payment of bills, medical benefits, prescription benefits, dental benefits, vision benefits, and various shared services agreements.

Discussions included asbestos inspection reports, facility use permits, summer routes, budget transfers, employee assistance programs, IDEA funding applications, nonpublic school services agreements, NCLB funding, surplus property disposal, lease agreements for school buses, staff workshops and conferences, leave of absences, staff hiring and salary adjustments, out-of-district student placements, and curriculum matters such as online classes and gifted and talented programs.
