The regular meeting of the governing body for the City of Hewitt includes several agenda items. Key discussions include a public hearing and subsequent action on an ordinance variance request concerning signage for a development at 875 S. Hewitt Drive. The council will consider the City of Hewitt's vote for a representative on the McLennan County 9-1-1 Emergency Assistance District Board of Managers and will consider action on a resolution supporting the submission of a grant application (CARE's Act Grant). There will also be a discussion concerning the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and related necessary actions. An executive session is scheduled to deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of the City Manager.

The council meeting included a briefing and discussion on upcoming events such as Coffee With A Cop, Citizen's Police Academy 2020, C.R.A.S.E., and the Hop into the Hewitt Public Library Spring Event. An interview was conducted, and action was taken to appoint a new member to the Board of Adjustment. The oath of office was administered to the newly appointed member. There was a briefing and discussion concerning PEG funds and HewittTX TV, along with authorization for the purchase of vegetation management services. The council also considered and took action on a resolution ordering a General Election and Special Election for the City of Hewitt on Saturday, May 2, 2020.

The council meeting included a presentation and discussion of the FY 2018-2019 audit report, with no material weaknesses identified. There was also a briefing and discussion regarding the city charter, including citizen input, purchasing procedures, and the appointment of a Charter Commission. A public hearing was held and action taken on a resolution approving a special permit for a cellular tower. The council also accepted the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, discussed financial statements, and authorized the emergency purchase of submersible pumps. Additional authorizations included the purchase of video production equipment for web streaming meetings and the nomination of members to the McLennan County 9-1-1 Emergency Assistance District. Finally, the council approved a resolution authorizing the City Manager to enter into a 380 agreement for economic development with Atwood Ranch and Home.

The council meeting addressed several key areas, including discussions on the FY 2020-2021 proposed budget and member funding assessments for the Waco-McLennan County Public Health District. The council also discussed and approved an amended order concerning the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Additionally, the council considered and took action on Ordinance No. 2020-12, which amends and clarifies the regulations for peddlers and solicitors within the city.

The workshop included a briefing and discussion on proposed Charter amendments, covering areas such as state law conflicts, purchasing policies, emergency expenditures, taxation, and grammatical corrections. The regular meeting involved a public hearing and action on ordinances related to land use designation changes for a property on Sun Valley Blvd, specifically changing it from low-density residential to retail and from single-family residential to restricted commercial. Additional discussions covered upcoming events, utility and street projects, and financial statements. The council also authorized contracts for street sweeping services and the construction of a building for the Utilities Services Vactor Sewer Truck, as well as landscape services for the Butterfly Garden Rock Bed. They considered and acted on the approval of a quarterly investment report and the appointment of a Municipal Court Judge.
