The meeting covered topics such as the CEER tour, welcoming Matthew May to the Board of Governors, and expressing gratitude to Laurie Sterritt, Richard Plett, and Adam Pion for their service. The President's activities were reviewed, including efforts to gain recognition for BCIT's applied research work and the postponement of the PAC Breakfast. The Board also watched a video highlighting Disaster Day at BCIT and introduced the Safety Wise Program and its new App. The CEER Building was renamed the "Spartan Controls Centre of Energy Education and Research". The Governance Committee addressed the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Policy revision. The Audit & Finance Committee discussed the Capital Construction Committee and Audited Financial Statements. The Research Ethics Board Annual Report was also reviewed.

The meeting included discussions on the Centre for Applied Research and Innovation (CARI), with a focus on its mandate, budget, and research groups. Updates were provided on the Chair's activities, including attendance at the Global Business Forum 2019, and the President's activities, including the extension of the Emerging Economy Task Force. The board discussed the implementation of the Strategic Plan, including a review of Part-Time Studies (PTS). The Audit & Finance Committee provided updates on the Q1 June 30, 2019 Financial Statements, the Q1 Ministry Forecast, and the Q1 Report for Full-Time Student Equivalents (FTEs). The Governance Committee updated the board on Safety & Security Policy #7100 and Procedures #7100 -- PR1 to PR12. The Education Council presented a proposal for a Diploma in Heavy Duty Truck Technology. Student Governors provided updates, and a draft Sustainability Strategic Plan Vision was presented.

The agenda included discussion and potential approval of an Associate Certificate in Digital Media Foundations, a revised Cannabis Use Policy #7200, and a revised Sexual Violence and Misconduct Policy #7103. Updates were provided by the President, the Governance Committee Chair, the Education Council Chair, and the BCITSA President. The Chair and President offered comments, and the meeting covered information items such as the Mandate Letter to the Honourable Anne Kang and newly appointed BC Provincial Cabinet and Deputy Ministers.

The meeting included a safety moment on using portable heaters. The Board approved the agenda and the minutes from the October 4, 2016 meeting. The Chair provided a report, noting Ms. Kinloch's recognition in Vancouver Magazine's Power 50 List and as an Honorary member of the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC. A presentation was given on the School of Computing and Academic Studies, including cybersecurity initiatives. The Board approved the business plan for a new Advanced Diploma in Professional Accounting. The Draft Mandate Letter from the Ministry of Advanced Education for 2017/2018 was discussed. Concerns were raised about lower enrollment numbers and declining enrollment of Indigenous students, with a request for a strategy to mitigate this decline.
