This strategic plan for Columbus Downtown aims to transform the area into a vibrant and desirable destination by focusing on key aspirations and objectives. The plan emphasizes creating a lively social and entertainment hub, enhancing retail and dining experiences, providing essential services and livability, improving connectivity and mobility, and strengthening community identity and placemaking. It seeks to diversify downtown offerings, develop a vibrant residential neighborhood, enhance access to Mill Race Park, and establish a pedestrian-first environment. Strategic recommendations are categorized across Real Estate + Economic Development, Public Realm + Infrastructure, and Programming + Activation, with the overarching goal of boosting downtown's role as a regional destination.

This strategic plan provides a roadmap for the revitalization and strategic growth of Downtown Columbus, aiming to create a vibrant, economically engaging, and accessible urban core by 2030. The plan focuses on enhancing three key corridors: the 4th Street entertainment district, historic Washington Street, and 5th Street as the Avenue of the Architects. Key priorities include fostering a diverse residential neighborhood, expanding offerings, improving pedestrian experiences, and strengthening connections to Mill Race Park, all while upholding Columbus' legacy of design excellence and community engagement.

The Columbus Downtown 2030 Strategic Plan aims to guide the future development of Downtown Columbus. It analyzes market trends, real estate potential, and community input to identify key challenges such as declining employee and visitor traffic, and an imbalance in real estate use. The plan outlines aspirations to create a vibrant social and entertainment hub, enhance retail and dining, improve essential services and livability through increased housing, strengthen connectivity and mobility, and foster community identity and placemaking. It seeks to leverage existing assets and learn from peer cities to build a more dynamic, inclusive, and pedestrian-friendly downtown for residents and visitors.

The City Council meeting included discussions and actions related to the Chase Point Annexation, including the reading of a resolution adopting a fiscal plan and a second reading of an ordinance annexing the territory to the City of Columbus. Additionally, there was a second reading of an ordinance amending the official zoning map of Columbus, rezoning the subject property. The council also addressed the first reading of an ordinance to amend Ordinance No. 30, 2024, creating a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) known as the Downtown Columbus Social District.
