A detailed overview of SB13 was provided, covering definitions for harmful content, parental access rights via Destiny, and the formal process for purchasing acquisitions, which requires a 30-day public posting for new ISBNs. The committee discussed Board Policy EFB, noting a potential revision to add SLAC members, and the status of Library Selection Guidelines, which were not revised this year to align with SB13. For the first formal reconsideration request regarding the material "Manu! by Fernandez," the committee unanimously agreed to review the material entirely, focusing on grade-level suitability, adherence to library standards, expert reviews, and avoiding removal based solely on ideas or the background of the author/characters. The SLAC also reviewed the process for adding new materials and discussed dividing the current list for review, noting the public posting began on December 5, 2025.

The meeting focused primarily on two formal reviews. First, the committee addressed a formal reconsideration request for the material titled "Manu! by Fernandez." Following internal voting, the committee recommended that the School Board remove the material at the elementary level and require parental permission for checkout at the middle and high school levels. Second, the committee reviewed a new materials list that was posted on December 5, 2025. Due to the volume, a consensus was reached to flag 42 specific titles for further detailed review and discussion, postponing a recommendation for their approval. Finally, future business included planning for the next meeting, which will involve the election of a Chair and Vice Chair, and a workshop to discuss the flagged titles.

The board reviewed and approved contracts, agreements, and renewals for goods, professional services, and non-construction services exceeding $50,000 individually or in aggregate for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. Key areas covered included instructional materials, technology, food services, and various consultant services. The board also ratified district-wide food purchases and revised awards for the 2023-2024 school year, adjusting expenditure estimates for several vendors.
