Sheriff Ken Christesen conducted a swearing-in ceremony for new deputies, during which the incoming officers took an oath of office to support the Constitution of the United States and the laws of the State of New Mexico, and to faithfully discharge their duties.

The commission meeting included recognition of emergency response departments for their work during a critical situation. Key business included the approval of several items on the consent agenda, such as budget adjustments, contractual changes, and fire safety grant funding. Additionally, the commission passed resolutions to designate the county as a Purple Heart County, honor the Pedro Vista High School baseball team for their state championship, and recognize the 25th anniversary of the San Juan County Fire and Rescue consolidation.

The Commission addressed several administrative items, including the approval of updated county safety policies, which align with current federal and state regulations. The interim budget for the upcoming fiscal year was presented and approved, highlighting cost reductions in various departments while maintaining service levels and capital project maintenance. Additionally, the Commission recognized local achievers for their contributions to the culinary arts and aerospace manufacturing, awarding certificates of achievement to a prominent chef and a local company involved in the Artemis 2 mission.

The commission approved a budget adjustment, reviewed finance and treasury check registers, and ratified an amendment to a local government and business continuity program. A primary discussion involved the implementation of an exclusive mail prescription program, which the board approved to ensure the solvency of the county's health plan. Additionally, the commission reviewed and interviewed candidates for the Probate Judge position, resulting in the selection of a new judge. Finally, the commission declared its intent to issue industrial revenue bonds for a solar facility project, clarifying that the county assumes no liability in the transaction and that the local tax base will remain intact.

The Commission meeting includes the consideration of adopting San Juan County Ordinance No. 131, which authorizes the execution of agreements to act as a fiscal agent for a $250,000 New Mexico Economic Development Department grant designated for the construction and renovation of buildings to house roto lining machines for Durango Machining Innovations. Additionally, the agenda features a presentation and review of the Fiscal Year 2027 interim budget.
