Financial reports for the previous month were presented and accepted, a memorandum of understanding for collaborative services for children and families was approved, and the Board deliberated on legislative updates, specifically regarding a THC beverage bill and cannabis regulation modernization, ultimately directing the Public Health Director to oppose the THC beverage bill.

The board discussed potential funding and treatment options for mental healthcare in schools. The 2026 Public Health Champion award was presented to Pueblo Water. Financial reports for the previous month were reviewed, including positive balances in Environmental Health food licenses and general budget performance. Updates were provided on the Riverstone Academy permit status, current legislative session outcomes and their impact on public health agency funds, emergency preparedness efforts, and measles vaccination statistics. An executive session was conducted to address personnel matters and receive legal advice concerning potential litigation.

The board discussed current budgetary challenges, including a significant deficit, potential furloughs, and the need for fiscal restructuring. Key topics included plans to reorganize the C-suite structure, debt refinancing, and the implementation of a future reserve policy. Additionally, the board approved map amendments for rezoning properties to facilitate lot line rearrangements and vacations.

The Board discussed SNAP benefits with a U.S. Congressman and heard extensive public comments regarding the impact of potential benefit cuts on local families and healthcare. The meeting included the reading of a proclamation for Weatherization Day and the approval of an electric easement for Black Hills of Colorado Electric, LLC.
