The regular council meeting covered several key actions. Expenditures were accepted for review. The purchase of a 2026 Chevy Silverado for the Street Department to replace a 2007 pickup truck was approved. Councilman Mick Fanning was presented with a plaque in appreciation for 16 years of service, marking his final meeting. The Solicitor presented an amendment to the zoning ordinance to eliminate the registration fee, with a public hearing scheduled for February 2, 2026. A potential ballot issue regarding the repeal of property taxes is scheduled for discussion by the Finance, Personnel, and Audit committee in the new year. The Street, Water, Sewer committee will meet to discuss the sewer line on Miller Avenue. Updates were provided on the completion of Maple Street improvements, which will conclude with final asphalt and sidewalks in the Spring. Following public inquiry regarding fire inspections, Ordinance 25-2424, which adopts amendments to the zoning code concerning short-term rentals and removes the registration fee, was passed on its third reading.
