Additionally, the Commission recommended approval for a zoning text amendment to eliminate on-site parking requirements for certain small non-residential properties within Redevelopment Area One.

The committee discussed the monitoring, review, and closure of previous internal audit findings and recommended the Board of Supervisors close certain completed items. The committee received an update on the current audit work program and fraud, waste, and abuse hotline activity, which reported zero incidents. Additionally, the committee reviewed and prioritized proposed internal audit services for the next fiscal year, including cybersecurity penetration testing, a Fire Department overtime assessment, a franchise fees assessment, and a Health and Human Services billing process review. The committee also tentatively scheduled its next meeting.

The Audit Committee discussed the Carson City Public Guardian Asset Management Assessment, including audit findings and recommendations related to policies, procedures, and supervisory review controls. The Committee reviewed the status of previous internal audit findings and recommendations to determine which items could be recommended for closure to the Board of Supervisors. Additionally, the Committee received an update on the Fiscal Year 2026 audit work program and Fraud, Waste and Abuse Hotline activity, and conducted preliminary planning for the Fiscal Year 2027 internal audit plan.
