This Safety Element of the General Plan integrates safety considerations into planning and decision-making processes, establishing policies to minimize risks from natural and human-caused hazards. Key focus areas include hazard mitigation planning and disaster preparedness, evacuations, fire protection and emergency response, geological and seismic hazards, flooding, climate change, hazardous materials, law enforcement, and airport hazards. The plan's objective is to enhance public safety, reduce personal injury, and minimize property and environmental damage within the County.
