This District Improvement Plan for North East Independent School District outlines a comprehensive roadmap focused on eight key goals. The School Health Advisory Council meeting included a presentation from the Physical Education & Health Department, which covered topics such as structured physical activity requirements, health curriculum development, human sexuality and abstinence education, CPR training, and various physical education courses offered at different school levels. The department also discussed initiatives like Fitnessgram testing, Action-Based Learning, and grant seeking, as well as updates to physical education equipment. Additionally, there was a welcome address from the Assistant Principal of David Lee "Tex" Hill Middle School, highlighting successful events and upcoming activities.

The Board of Trustees convened for a meeting covering various topics. These included routine personnel matters, the hiring of a Chief Financial Officer, and the rescission of a proposed termination of a continuing contract employee. The Board also discussed the adoption of an annual audit plan and updates to board policies. Additionally, they addressed health and dental insurance premiums, a lease buyout, a memorandum of understanding for the Juvenile Justice Academy, a student code of conduct, and a state waiver for pregnancy-related services on campus.
