This document serves as an invitation to the Oshkosh School Summit, a three-day event designed to gather community, student, and staff input for the development of a five-year strategic framework. The strategic framework aims to identify key performance indicators and goals for the Oshkosh Area School District, ensuring community priorities are integrated into the future direction of the district through a collaborative process.

The meeting commenced with compliance confirmation for open meeting laws and a roll call confirming quorum. Students from Shapiro STEM led the pledge of allegiance. A presentation was given by the principal of Shapiro STEM highlighting academic progress, including reading assessment results (44% on grade level) and math proficiency (45% based on Unit 4 data, with Kindergarten through second grade achieving about 70%). Accomplishments included students being dismissed from Personal Reading Plans (PRPs) established under Act 20. Staff engagement showed an increase of 0.4 points, placing the school in the 64th percentile, which was noted as significant given impending school closure and consolidation. Other highlights included a fourth-grade invention showcase, recognition of the student leadership team for spreading kindness via initiatives like 'Feel Good Friday,' and second graders receiving an aviation scholarship. Field testing of iPads in K-4 classrooms for math and CKLA work was also mentioned. Board administrative reports included recognition of three employees retiring: Shelley Mishes (Media Specialist), Heather Potrat (Science Teacher), and Kim Press (Agricultural Teacher), with extensive commentary on their contributions. The President's report covered one retirement and recognized Levi Kefir for receiving the Perseverance Award from the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association. Superintendent reports detailed activities across several schools, such as the EAA winter luncheon and museum tour for Oaklan Elementary students, senior athlete signings at Oshkosh West, an opera performance for young students at E. Cook, a drawing/sculpture unit at Roosevelt Elementary, and a breakout activity on the American Revolution at Vel Phillips Middle School. Further updates included Ally Lee's nomination for the Jersey Mike's Courage Award and her role in the North's production of Hadestown, the 180 Degree Awards recognizing students with significant GPA improvements, and upcoming events like Sasquatch Days, a health awareness game, a BSU gallery walk, and a winter blood drive.

Finally, a Land Acknowledgement for the ancestral homelands of the Ho Chunk Nation and Menominee Indian tribe of Wisconsin was presented.

The subsequent discussion on Policy 0167.3 resulted in its approval, adopting new language that prioritizes comments from residents, students' families, and employees while still allowing all stakeholders to speak. The meeting featured a mission moment recognizing Sydney Butts, an alumna and current Indiana University twirler, and acknowledged numerous employee retirements spanning various roles and years of service. Superintendent reports highlighted student achievements, including a 4K teacher named Teacher of the Month, a middle school project blending literacy analysis with introductory coding using tiny robots, and a senior culinary student winning multiple gold medals and securing scholarships. The reports also recognized the K-12 art exhibition and a field trip for eighth graders to the Junior Achievement Financial Park. Finally, inductions into the athletic hall of fame for Oshkosh West and Oshkosh North were celebrated, along with an announcement for the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Celebration.
