The plan aims to fully offset these impacts by restoring and enhancing over 8,251 acres of degraded riverine wetland habitat at Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge. Key objectives include naturalizing hydrology and restoring native communities in the Yellow Creek floodplain, enhancing Elk and Turkey Creek drainage corridors, and restoring the hydrological integrity of the historic Little Swan Lake Sump. The strategic approach emphasizes physical and hydrological restoration, natural vegetation community development, and long-term ecological benefits, funded through a combination of federal, state, and local monies.
