The District of Innovation Plan for Blue Ridge Independent School District outlines strategies to leverage flexibilities granted by House Bill 1842, similar to those of Texas' open-enrollment charter schools. The plan focuses on innovations in areas such as flexible instructional start dates, local teacher certification, teacher contract adjustments, expanded excused absences for college/military visits, local class size waiver management, transfer student policies, and the complaints and grievance process. It is guided by the district's mission to inspire student growth and excellence, and its five core goals centered on academic achievement, safety, staff development, community partnerships, and prudent financial stewardship, aiming to enhance local control and customize educational practices.
The meeting included a closed session to discuss personnel matters, disciplinary matters, and safety and security. The Pledge of Allegiance and a prayer were conducted.
