The Design Review Board discussed several architectural applications. These included approvals for exterior alterations to a single-family residence, a two-story addition to an existing Spanish-style residence, and a two-story addition to a single-family home with an attached garage. The Board also reviewed a proposal for replacing roofing materials on a single-family residence, which resulted in a continuance of the item pending further information. All projects were evaluated based on architectural compatibility, design standards, and proposed conditions of approval.

The board reviewed several development applications. These included an application for a new fence at a residential property, signage for a commercial business, the demolition and reconstruction of a single-family residence, the replacement of a duplex with a new single-family home, and new signage for another commercial tenant. Various conditions of approval were attached to these projects, ranging from architectural detailing and facade enhancements to signage labeling and fence design specifications.

The meeting featured a staff report on Camp Alhambra programming, with an emphasis on collaboration opportunities such as library reading programs and sustainability activities. Tentative volunteer dates for the summer were identified and discussed. Commissioners also explored potential community initiatives, including a holiday toy drive, food drives, and recurring monthly craft activities at the local Farmers' Market.

The commission discussed potential public art features for the Alhambra Community Center, specifically kinetic sculptures and peace poles. A decision on a public art proposal for 110 South Chapel Avenue was deferred pending further clarification from the designers. Additionally, the commission reviewed the final float rendering for the 2027 Alhambra Tournament of Roses and discussed a community nomination contest titled Faces of Welcome, which recognizes residents for their positive community impact.

The meeting included the election of officers for the 2026-2027 term and a presentation intended to train the commission on the City's project review procedures under the Historic Preservation Ordinance. The training covered key terminology, the process for evaluating historic resources based on significance and integrity, and the application of the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
