The board meeting will address several personnel-related actions, including the authorization of honorable dismissals for both certified and non-certified staff, the non-renewal and dismissal of certified staff, and the non-renewal of administrative contracts. Additionally, the agenda includes discussions on notices to remedy, memoranda of understanding and settlements, general personnel matters, a public hearing, and the approval of a revised 2025-2026 school calendar.

The agenda for the meeting included the adoption of the agenda, recognitions, presentations, and public comments. Key action items involved considering the approval of the East St. Louis School District 189 Deficit Reduction Plan, authorization to read all resolutions by heading only, approval of a resolution authorizing notice to remedy for certified staff, and consideration of issuing Working Cash Fund Bonds not to exceed $29,000,000. Other action items included considering approval of Worker's Compensation Settlement Agreement(s) and Student Discipline matters. Reports were scheduled for FOIA requests, financial reports for January 2026, personnel actions, and reports from the Buildings & Grounds, Curriculum, Policy, and Finance Committees.

The meeting included recognitions of outstanding students who received the Rising Star Award from the NAACP and teachers who received the Emerson Excellence in Teaching Award and recognition from the Charles E. Fleming Legacy Foundation. The board also recognized the contributions of school board members. Additionally, the six new tennis courts at East St. Louis Senior High School received a distinguished facility award from the American Sports Builders Association. Seven alumni from East St. Louis Senior High School were inducted into the Western Illinois University Athletic Hall of Fame.
