The Village of Somerset's 2043 Comprehensive Plan establishes a shared vision to guide future actions and decisions for managing growth over a 20-year period. Adopted in 2024, it aims to direct community development, inform budgeting, and stimulate private investment, with a vision of a vibrant, family-friendly community that balances growth with preserving its history and small-town charm. The plan addresses key areas such as agricultural, natural, and cultural resources; utilities and community facilities; intergovernmental cooperation; economic development; housing; mobility and transportation; and land use.

The Town of Wien adopted the Town of Wien Comprehensive Plan Ordinance. The ordinance formally adopts the document entitled Town of Wien Comprehensive Plan Ordinance. The town board has adopted written procedures designed to foster public participation in every stage of the preparation of a comprehensive plan. The Plan Commission has adopted a resolution recommending to the town board the adoption of the Town of Wien Comprehensive Plan.

The resolution addresses fire protection fees for real estate and personal property owners in the Town of Wien, where fire protection is provided by the Edgar and Stratford Fire Departments. It establishes a fee schedule, setting the charge at up to $1,000 per fire run, payable within 30 days. The resolution also specifies that charges for non-department owned equipment are the owner's responsibility, and decisions regarding the use of such equipment will be made by fire personnel on-site. Delinquent accounts will be added to real estate property tax bills or handled through small claims court for non-residents.

The Town of Wien Comprehensive Plan, adopted in 2024, serves as a guide for local officials in making decisions affecting growth and development over a ten-year period. The plan addresses key areas including demographics, natural, agricultural, and cultural resources, housing, transportation, utilities and community facilities, economic development, land use, intergovernmental cooperation, and implementation. It aims to maintain good groundwater quality, preserve forestland, enforce environmental regulations, protect historically significant buildings and sites, and support community events. Additionally, the plan seeks to locate new residential development in appropriate areas, enforce building standards, maintain the current roadway system, and promote safe access from public roadways to private property. It also focuses on discouraging major utility corridors, providing effective public safety services, supporting existing community facilities, strengthening the agricultural economy, and preserving prime agricultural land.
