Board meetings and strategic plans from Alex Kolton's organization
This plan outlines objectives to strengthen food access and education in Alger County. Key objectives include fostering community engagement by providing opportunities for feedback and volunteer participation, developing learning opportunities through workshops related to local food systems and sustainable gardening, building partnerships to connect resources for food production and distribution, and identifying and dedicating established gardens or new locations for food systems.
This Five-Year, Long-Range Plan for the Alger Conservation District aims to provide sound natural resource and management assistance to the people of Alger County. The plan is structured around two main categories of priorities: Operations and Natural Resources. Operations Priorities include Community Garden Development and Education, Partnership Development, Awareness, and Outreach, Staffing, and Millage renewal and advocacy. Natural Resource Priorities focus on Invasive Pests, Plants, and Animals; Stream, wetland and forest habitat degradation and cleanups; Soil Health; Climate change; and Inadequate septic systems and groundwater contamination. The overarching vision is to achieve sustainable farms, vibrant communities, and restored, protected, and enhanced natural resources by engaging the community and increasing awareness of natural resources.
