Early work in upland areas includes mobilization, access route and staging area development, temporary fencing, office setup, clearing and grubbing and tree removal and protection. Temporary control work before in-stream construction includes installation of water diversion system to keep the work area dry before commencement of in-stream construction work. Other temporary control work during in-stream construction may include installation of dewatering system to keep excavated areas dry if groundwater occurs, and installation of excavation support systems as needed. Remove temporary control work immediately after it is no longer required. Northbank improvement includes a combination of boulder toe revetment, vegetated boulder revetment, wrapped soil lifts and earthen fill slopes along approximately 130 linear feet of the creek. Typical construction activities include excavation of native soil to reconfigure and stabilize the temporary slope, installation of boulder bedding material, boulder toe revetment, and vegetated boulder revetment at the bottom of the slope, construction of wrapped fill lifts above the boulder revetment, installation of engineered streambed material, and installation of upper slope fill material and erosion control fabric. Southern embankment includes the installation of a boulder toe trench at the bottom of the existing concrete retaining wall. Typical construction activities include excavation of native soil at the bottom of existing wall, installation of boulder bedding material, boulders and engineered streambed material back to existing grade. Replacement of existing menlo park storm drain outfall includes removal of a segment of the existing drain pipe, outfall and sakrete materials, and installation ofthe replacement outfall with a manhole, engineered energy dissipation rock pad and a back flow prevention flap gate. Irrigation and revegetation work includes installation of irrigation systems and planting and seeding native species appropriate for the proposed soil, hydrology and climate. Landscape maintenance work includes irrigation system maintenance and repairs, weed, pest and disease control activities, and plant maintenance necessary to establish the shrubs, trees, and other plantings for a period of 365 days after substantial completion.
