AvailableProvide technical assistance to support the goals outlined in the grant related to youth gun violence prevention and community-based violence prevention initiatives for the seven (7) counties in New York State identified as the pilot sites for the Empowerment Through Wellness to Prevent Gun Violence Initiative. The goal of the New York State Empowerment Through Wellness to Prevent Gun Violence Initiative has two main components. First, to support community-based violence intervention programs, which serve as an effective solution to combat gun violence and to reduce firearm-related deaths, in the seven (7) counties identified as having the highest number of youth gun-related offenses: Kings, Bronx, Erie, Monroe, Nassau, Suffolk, and Oneida. Second, to develop new training programs for our Youth Part courts (“Youth Parts”), emerging adult, and problem-solving court, and Family Court judges and staff on the relationship between gun violence, education, mental health issues, community safety and well-being and diversion. The locations of the Youth Parts in each county are in Exhibit 7 (Location of Youth Parts in Each County). See attached file and outside link.
