Seeking applicants who use an evidence-based model to provide community-based interventions to support justice-involved young adults with gun-related offences whose cases are in the Youth Part. The goal of the New York State Empowerment Through Wellness to Prevent Gun Violence Initiative has two main components. The first goal is to support community-based violence intervention programs, which serve as an effective solution to combat gun violence and to reduce firearm-related deaths, in seven (7) counties identified as having the highest number of youth gun-related offenses: Kings, Bronx, Erie, Monroe, Nassau, Suffolk, and Oneida. The second goal is to assist the UCS in developing new training programs for both UCS’ problem-solving judges/staff and our youth part judges/staff which explore the relationship between gun violence, mental health issues, and diversion. See outside link and attached file.
