New York State Office of Mental Health
As the demand for qualified and competent peer support staff grows, and the disciplines of family and youth advocates and peer specialists continue to evolve and expand, the need for delivery of high quality, evidence-based training and professional support becomes paramount to the success of these professions. As well, the technical support needed for entities implementing peer services is crucial to maintain the integrity of the workforce. It is then critical to ensure fidelity to these models with the provision of professional support that addresses peer drift and promotes authentic peer support that is within scope of practice and discipline.
