Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District
Primary goal of the Project is to minimize post-fire impacts to the Ditch, which can include in-stream erosion, debris flow, excessive downstream erosion, and sedimentation. By reducing forest fuels incrementally upslope from and in proximity to the Ditch, wildfire intensity may be reduced, resulting in a reduced magnitude of post-fire impacts. The fuel reduction will primarily target the treatment of <6" Diameter Breast Height (DBH) subalpine fir, which will allow for increased species diversity and age classes over time and will contribute to a healthier and more resilient forest type less prone to high severity wildfire.
