RFPs/Little Log Church Museum Rehabilitation

Little Log Church Museum Rehabilitation

City of Yachats

Summary

The little log church and museum is one of the city of yachats's most charming and beloved landmarks. The original church section of the building was built between 1927 and 1930 of locally sourced logs. The little log church museum is a single structure constructed of two distinct additions and connected by an enclosed hallway. The church addition (817 SF) is constructed of milled log walls supported by concrete foundation blocks. The museum addition is typical timber framed construction on a concrete spread footing foundation. The milled log walls of the church addition are very rotted, although the perimeter beam, floor, framing, wood floors, and roof assembly are in good condition. Most work will take place on the church addition, except that the siding will be replaced on the whole structure. The project will make upgrades to little log church museum, including: demolition and replacement of vestibule and bell tower (salvage bell and bell hanger assembly), replacement of milled log walls with timber framed walls, installation of new windows, doors, insulation, electrical and sheet rock, track lighting installation, replacement of existing block footings with new poured in place spread footing, new simulated log siding replacement on museum and church additions, and paint structure.
