The Keep Maryland Beautiful Program is designed to engage diverse organizations in activities in Maryland that both improve natural resources and benefit communities. Tracks 1: Community Stewardship supports small-scale projects that directly benefit local environments and residents and Track 2: Land Trust Assistance strengthens land trusts to expand their conservation efforts and impact.
Walton Fire District
Conduct a working lands capacity study assessing current and potential agricultural production in the NYC watershed. The study will use tools like GIS, scenario planning, and stakeholder engagement to identify opportunities to strengthen regional food systems.
City of Shaker Heights
Tree planting program within many of the neighborhoods, parks, and public lands within the city limits. Furnish, transport and plant viable trees; reserve work space along streets; excavate in-place soil, plant and backfill with parent material, top dress with top soil provided by city; stake trees at time of planting; water trees at planting time (fill 20 gallon bag); furnish and place mulch at time of planting; remove excess material and cleanup site at time of planting; guarantee trees for two years and make appropriate replacement planting; keep work site safe at all times.
