Department of the Army Office: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
The proposed project includes two main features of work: Valve Replacement: The intake contains ten circular port openings at five different tower elevations for selective withdrawal of water from the lake. Work entails the replacement of ten (10), six-foot diameter port butterfly valves that are within piping in-line with the port openings. The watertight seals on the existing valves have become worn due to age and debris damage and full replacement is required. Insulation Replacement: Ventilation ductwork runs throughout the intake tower and supplies outside air to the water release gates to produce laminar flow. The diameter of the ducting varies but is commonly in the 2’ to 6’ diameter range. The existing fiberglass insulation has become worn and damaged and is need of replacement. Work entails removal of the existing insulation and replacement with new, cellular glass insulation and jacketing.
