OJP Bureau of Justice Assistance
2025 body-worn camera policy and implementation program (BWCPIP) supports publicly funded law enforcement and correctional agencies in establishing or expanding body-worn camera (BWC) programs. Properly implemented BWC programs can strengthen the evidentiary foundation for criminal prosecutions, provide reliable documentation of officer-citizen encounters, and deter assaults on officers.

Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
Through this program, the Office of Grants and Research (OGR) provides funding for law enforcement to establish and implement body-worn camera (BWC) programs. Grants funds may be used to create a BWC program or expand an existing BWC program. Funding is not available for the replacement of equipment used by police departments with existing BWC programs. The program aims to improve public safety; enhance community-police relations; foster better accountability for the actions of police personnel; deter inappropriate conduct by police officers and members of the public; capture digital audio-video evidence for criminal, civil and traffic- related court cases; and to be used as a training tool for officer safety and best practices. OGR is offering a second round of FY25 funding to support local law enforcement. This program is made available through state funding.
