The budget process includes meetings with directors and principals to discuss staffing, supplies, projects, and instructional and facility needs. Public meetings are held to review the proposed tentative budget and receive public comments. The official GaDOE allotment sheets are used for updated revenue figures, and final updates are made to revenue and appropriations. The tentative budget is adopted in May, and the final budget is adopted in June. The millage recommendation process includes completing and submitting Department of Revenue forms. The roll-back rate is calculated, and the Local Board of Education evaluates it. Public meetings are advertised and held to discuss tax increases, and the BOE approves the millage rate.
