The board is considering the approval to authorize the Chancellor or designee to negotiate and execute a contract on behalf of Lone Star College to purchase a catalog and curriculum tracking software solution with Kauli, Inc. The initial contract term will be for a three-year period with an option to renew for two additional one-year periods based on mutual consent. The College is seeking to gain access to an online tool to more efficiently and effectively develop its academic catalog and related content.

The board is considering the approval to authorize the Chancellor or designee to amend the contract on behalf of Lone Star College for the purchase of the Kuali Build Module of the Catalog and Curriculum Tracking Software Solution. The proposed amendment for the addition of the Kuali Build module will allow the electronic review of curriculum in transfer coursework and collaborative decision-making for implementation in programs offered at the College.

The meeting included the reorganization of the Board of Trustees, where a new chair, vice chair, secretary, and assistant secretary were elected. The board approved the minutes from previous meetings and discussed special reports, including a COVID-19 update and spring enrollment figures. The consent agenda was approved, covering items such as expanding the Game Design and Simulation Designer program to Lone Star College-Houston North, authorizing master service agreements for geotechnical and environmental testing services, building envelope services, and purchasing the My Clinical Exchange System. Additionally, the board ratified an extension of the Owner Controlled Insurance Program and approved waiving the Student Activity Fee for the Spring 2021 term. The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report and independent auditors' reports were also approved.

The meeting included a presentation on the spring 2018 Micro-G NEXT challenge through NASA, where LSC-CyFair students designed a device for use in microgravity. There was also recognition of Lynn LeBoeuf from Tomball Regional Health Foundation for surpassing $1 million in funding for Lone Star College. An update was provided on fall enrollment, and Lone Star College was recognized for being a top degree producer for minorities. The board reviewed and approved revisions to the Board Policy Manual, covering retirement plans, legal affairs, and free speech rights on college premises. The board also discussed and approved the annual appointment of county tax assessor-collectors, providing notice of intent to hold public hearings, approving the proposed 2019 Internal Audit Plan, and authorizing the purchase of promotional products for Lone Star College.

The Board of Trustees meeting included a workshop on African American Success Trends, discussing enrollment, graduate rates, and college readiness. The board also discussed financial aid applications and workforce education grants with the Department of Education. There were presentations on the typical atypical student and online learning success models. The board approved resolutions and ordinances related to the ad valorem tax rate for the year 2018. They also approved a list of investment broker/dealers for FY 2019 and authorized the purchase of promotional products. Additionally, the board authorized contracts for delinquent tax collection services, real estate purchase for the LSC-Montgomery Satellite Center, oil and gas consultant services, and deliverables-based information technology services. The purchase of virtual dissection tables for LSC-Tomball and construction services for LSC-University Park were also approved.
